Match Fishing, Dales pits

Today i went to the match at dales pits which starts at 9:30am and finishes at 3:30pm. I quickly put my bait in the car and headed off for the fishing match. Ive been doing quite well in the past few matches ive been winning money alot which is good. When we arrived there there was a little ripple blowing but not alot. It was also drizzling. It was now time to draw and i confidently put my hand in draw bag and drew number 3 to choose. I chose peg 21 on te island. One of the shallow pegs on the large lake. I decied to set up the long pole at 10 metres to hopefully get a bonus bream or a better stamp of fish. I also set a rig up at 4m to hand for the skimmers, roach , rudd and ide. I potted in a big cupful of trout pellets and maggots on my 10 metre line. I fed little and often on my 4m line. The rig i used consisted of an 0.14 mainline to a 0.08 bottom with a size 22 B520 Kamasan hook. The float i used was a rizov 0.2g float cocked with 2 number eight Stots. I seadily caught roach rudd and skimmers through out the match. I then went on to my 10 metre line a got two bonus bream. I then got a tench of around 1lb . then te match was over. I came 4th and weighed in 7lb 9oz. Until next time the ossesive angler. Tight Lines.

Tench and Bream fishing partney brick pits

Today i decided to go down to Partney Brick Pits fishing for bream and tench. I got down to the venue at 3:00pm. I headed for peg 7 as the wind was blwing into and it has a nice lilly pad. i got my pole out and fished at around 7-8 metres up to the lilly pad. The float i was using for my rig was a 0.5g drennan tipo with the yellow antennae. I am a really big fan of these floats as you can change the top very easily and they are a nice pattern. The mainline i was using was 0.16 straight throught to the hook. The hook was a drennan specimen hook in size 14. i was using an olivette to get the bait down also with some number eight stots. My feed today was hemp seed and trout pellets. Very good for bream and tench. my hookbaits for today was trout pellet paste, krill paste, worms and small 4mm pellets. Now for the fishing. The first drop in resulted in a small common of around a pound in weight. A lovely conditioned fish. The next drop in resulted with a crucain carp of around 6 ounces. The next few put ins resulted with a few rudd and roach and the odd perch. I then had an ide of around a pound. I then had a loverly bream of around 5lb. Beautiful fish.

Next drop in resulted in a tench of around three pounds.

Then heavens opened so it was time to pack up. Tight lines The Obsessive Angler

Dales Pits, 11th august 2012, match fishing

Today i was going in the match at dales pit like i do nearly every saturday. We draw the pegs at 9:30 and start at 10:30 and finish at 3:30. I put my hand in the bag and picked out number 2. hooray! i thought. i chose peg nine and headed down to my peg. Please note that i do not take pictures when im match fishing as im concentrating. I walked down to peg nine and there was a nice wind blowing it it :). I set up two lines one at 4m to hand down the edge for small roach and anther line out at about 9 metres for the skimmers and cruicans. The rig had a mainline of 0.16 to and 0.08 bottom and a drennan loaded insert waggler weighing 1 gram. The shotting consisted of several number eight stots around the float and two down the mainline to give a nice steady fall through the water. The hook i was using was a size 22 B520 Kamasan Barbless. The rig i was using for skimmers and crucians consisted of a 0.16 mainline to a 0.08 bottom. The float was a drennan tipo 1 gram as the water is quite deep here. used a 0.8 of a gram olivette with a few number eight stots to dot it down. The hook i was using was the same as on the other rig. The feed i was using to day was wetted down trout pellets a bit of hemp and some dead maggots and some live ones. To start off i throwed out maybe 20 trout pellets. A few kernals of hemp and a few maaggots and left that for a bit while i sorted my other swim out. On my longer line i cupped in half a cup ful of trout pellets, half a cupful of hemp and half a cupful of dead maggots. Time was shouted and i started off on my long line. Hooked into a good fish straight away looked a good crucian of around a pound but the hooked pulled at the net!.i went back out with a single dead maggot and was cathcing decent sized skimmers every chuck but they eventually got smaller and were now catching them of around an ounce. I had a look on my short line and was into good rudd and roach and ide straight away this looked promising.this lasted for about an hour and then it went dead. Put some more bait in left it and looked on my longer line all i could catch was 1 ounce skimmers.i had another look on my short line and it was still dead so i sat there for around 2 hours catching 1 ounce skimmers. Then i had a look at my short line a was awarded with a 1lb and half roach. I carried on catching  decent amount of good roach and rudd. Then a couple of carp decided to gate crash the party. i put a new hooklenght on and went back out. Bang! 4lb bream i had it rolling on the top and the hook pulled out oh no i thought. I then had a few more cruicans and a small tench also some more rudd and roach. I never had a look on my longer line as it was pointless as i was catching good fish at 4m. I had a few skimmers around about a pound and then it was time.

The top tree match results

G.Vines 13lb 6oz
E.ogden and ian joint second 6lb 15 oz
I came third with 6lb 10oz and i got 8 pound in my back pocket so it wasnt too bad i enjoyed it.
Any way until next time tight lines The obsessive angler.

Dales Pits

Today i went fishing at Dales Pits. I started around 2 to 3 oclock and i decided to fish on peg 9 as the peg was in shade and there was a nice wind blowing into it. This was perfect because it was around 26 celsius and most of the other pegs on the lake was flat calm. I also walked around and could only see the odd carp rolling and the odd bream and some small silverfish on the top which was very unusual. I decided to fish for the big roach which thrive in these waters. I started of loose feedin maggots and fishing a single maggot on a size 22 hookon the drop. This immediatly brought roach ,rudd, ide and skimmers to the net perfect for match fishing. I fished on the whip 4 metres to hand. around 20 minutes into sessio i latched on to something a little bit bigger this turned out to be a crucain carp around 10 ounces. Then the swim went quiet and i hooked a 3lb bream. I got smashed off twice presumably carp but u never know in this theres big tench eels big cruicians so who knows what it was.at around 4 or 5 oclock i hook into a big roac which was around the 1 1/2 lb mark. I carried on for a little while but nothing else came except from small fish. Sorry theres no pictures as i forgot my camera. Now for those big bream and tench. until next time the obsessive angler.
